If you are wishing to become a referee (and are 14 years or older) for this upcoming outdoor season, there is some information that you need to know. Please referee to the Alberta Soccer Association website at www.albertasoccer.com and click on the referee tab to find out what courses you can take to begin. There are courses for becoming an ASA referee (centre) that you will find here.
Assistant Referee (run the lines)
If you wish to be an Assistant Referee (run the lines) and are 12 years or older, you can look at the EMSA website at www.edmontonsoccer.com and check when they are having Assistant Referee Courses. Here is the most current list that we have. You can register online with EMSA at www.edmontonsoccer.com.
Are you already a Referee or Assistant Referee?
If you are already a referee, it is sometimes difficult to know whom to contact to get games. Here are some tips that can help you to begin. The first point of contact should be your referee coordinator/assignor here at the Edmonton North Zone Soccer Association that is in charge of assigning referees. These are for games within the north part of the city or you can specify to work only games within your community. Please fill in the form below and email it to volunteers@edmontonnorthsoccer.ca so that we can have your current information in our system to begin assigning you games.
Getting Paid
The referees and assistant referees that work in the ENZSA league are paid according to the following scale unless otherwise directed by our referee assignor. Please remember that this year, we will be seeking feedback from our coaches as to your performance on the field and should we receive a number of complaints about your effort during the games, we will contact you and ask that you be mentored by one of our more experienced referees. The same also goes for you doing a great job ... when we hear about that we will also pass this along. You should get paid at the beginning of every match by the home team. If you don't, please tell them this is policy and if you still have issues, contact the Zone office or your Referee Assignor the next day with the information for us to follow up.
Centre Referees - Ensure you are paid at the start of the match please.

It is very important that you keep accurate records of dates, times and fields of your assignments. Centre referees, please keep your copy of the game sheet in case of any mistakes. Also, please observe the 24 hour cooling off period and then get your ASA misconduct report for red card offenses filled in and email or fax it into the ENZSA office as soon as possible after your match. We can then issue disciplines to the appropriate people. You can email your ASA reports to programs@edmontonnorthsoccer.ca or fax them to (780) 406-0825.
Our fax number is (780) 406-0825 and our email is programs@edmontonnorthsoccer.ca
